The purpose of the present study was to understand child clients¡¯ experiences and the meaning of school play therapy. Colaizzi¡¯s phenomenological approach was utilized to gather, analyze, and report the findings from the study since we focused on understanding each child client¡¯s individual sense of meaning as well as the more common aspects of the participants. The analyses included three categories, five theme clusters, and seventeen themes. The three categories included: (1) the experience of the play therapy process; (2) the experience of play therapist; (3) the experience of the child himself/herself. Five theme clusters are summarized in the following manner: (1) starting play therapy at school; (2) a special time I seek to treasure my inner self; (3) I feel cared for with love; (4) you and I are together here and now; (5) discovering me that is positively different. These findings are significant in that they help us understand the child clients¡¯ inner voices for the first time. These findings also suggest a number of important implications which can help promote the further application and development of school play therapy
